Phuket, Thailand
Situated on the Andaman Sea, 848 km (527 miles) south of Bangkok, Phuket is one of the most sought-after destinations in Southeast Asia. Because apart from its world-famous turquoise water and white sand beaches, Thailand’s largest island offers a myriad of other things to see and do. Additional attractions include: luxurious all-inclusive resorts, enticing food and restaurants, thriving nightlife, lush nature, Buddhist temples and more!
Phuket is warm throughout the year with average temperatures ranging from 22⁰C to 34⁰C. Most travelers consider November to March the best time to visit, when days are mostly sunny and dry – ideal if you’re planning to spend lots of time on the beach. April to June is the hot season with temperatures occasionally reaching as high as 40⁰C. While it may not be the most popular time to visit the island for most beachgoers, it is the best time for most Asians to celebrate the Songkran Festival, Thailand’s New Year (which is usually celebrated on April 13th and lasts for at least three days). The wet season runs from July to October, when the southwest monsoon brings higher levels of rainfall and humidity. Notwithstanding, this is the low season, when you can find the best-value offers for accommodation and fewer crowds.
Getting to Phuket by air couldn’t be easier. Phuket is served by the Phuket International Airport (HKT) with numerous scheduled and charter flights from Europe and around Asia. However, the majority of visitors still fly to Bangkok first, where there are over a dozen domestic flights to Phuket daily. Flights from Bangkok take about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
