Cancún, Mexico
Situated at one of Mexico’s easternmost points – on the Yucatán Peninsula – Cancún is renowned for its gorgeous turquoise seas, powdery white-sand beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and festive nightlife. Cancún boasts a wide variety of hotels and accommodations, plus just south of town is the Riviera Maya, a stretch of Caribbean coastline famous for its numerous all-inclusive resorts. And it would be remiss to leave out the regions rich culture and history. Because a visit wouldn’t be complete without exploring the area’s ancient Mayan ruins, charming colonial towns, museums and galleries.
Thanks to the Yucatán current that continually brings warm water from further south, the sea temperature is always very warm, with lows of 26 °C (79 °F) in winter and highs of 29 °C (84 °F) in summer. The rainy season runs from May through late October, when hot temperatures, high humidity, and quick, but intense summer thundershowers are common. The dry season normally begins in December and runs through April, when more temperate conditions occur.
Accessible via the Cancún International Airport (CUN), the Mexican resort town has many flights to North America, Central America, South America, and Europe, serving over twenty million passengers annually.
